Day 1

Welcome to Portugal

Explore one of the most amazing areas, Belém, where history and heritage are breathed. A neighborhood dedicated to the Portuguese Age of Discovery, with emblematic monuments such as the Jerónimos Monastery, the Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries. Here you will also find the Belem Palace, official residence of the current President of the Republic, the Coach Museum and the Santa Cruz Monument, in honor of the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic by Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral.

You will have a tasting of the famous Pastéis de Belém.

Explore the São Jorge Castle, passing by the Portas do Sol viewpoints - with magnificent views over Alfama, the São Vicente Monastery and the Pantheon, and Santa Luzia and the Lisbon Cathedral.

Lunch will be at a traditional restaurant in Lisbon to get the local experience.

Also visit Parque das Nações, a more modern area where you will find the Oceanário, Lisbon Casino, Oriente Station - designed by architect Calatrava and Vasco da Gama shopping center. From there, you have great visibility to the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe and one of the longest in the world.

In Sintra there is plenty to see, iconic monuments, fairy-tale palaces and magical trails. Visit Pena Palace, which rests atop the majestic Sintra Mountains, a Romantic-style palace with vibrant colors in contrast to the mountain. The Pena Park hides unique and dazzling nooks and crannies and secrets that are worth discovering.

After visiting the palace, you will have free time in the town of Sintra to explore the narrow streets of the historical center and will also have a taste of typical sweets: the queijada and the travesseiro.

From Sintra, travel along the Colares road, a beautiful route surrounded by nature, to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. Take a scenic drive along the coast to Cascais, passing Guincho beach - famous for surfing - and Boca do Inferno, a unique rock formation. Lunch will be at a local restaurant, we usually recommend the fish option since a fishing village should honor the best of the local cuisine.

On the way back to Lisbon, enjoy the panoramic view of Estoril, where you will see the Estoril Casino, one of the biggest in Europe, its gardens and the Tamariz coast.

Évora

Once dominated by the Romans, it has many must-see historical buildings and monuments, such as the Roman Temple of Diana, goddess of the moon and hunting.

In this calm and picturesque town, one can also find the famous Chapel of Bones, which still today intrigues locals and visitors for being made of real bones. On the entrance door one can read: "We bones that are here for you await".

Lunch is in the city of Évora, where you can taste the famous "migas alentejanas", a mouth-watering traditional delicacy made from Alentejo bread.

You will have a visit to a winery, where you can learn about the process of winemaking and bottling of the Alentejo wine, so well known and awarded worldwide, the visit ends with a wine tasting.

You will also visit a cork factory where you can see how the corks that protect the nectar you have tasted at the winery are made and so many other things that can be done and created with cork.

Day 5

Óbidos, Fátima & Nazaré

On this private tour to Óbidos, Nazaré and Fátima, start by visiting Óbidos, a medieval town conquered from the Moors by the first Portuguese king Afonso Henriques in 1148. Centuries later, King Dinis gave Óbidos to his wife, Queen Isabel, as a wedding gift. From then on, the region became a source of income for all Portuguese queens. Its defensive walls crowned by the Moorish castle, make this town one of the best examples of an English medieval fortress. For this reason, it is part of the Templar Castles in Portugal.

From Óbidos, travel to Nazaré, a former fishing village and one of the first international tourist destinations in Portugal. There you will find fresh fish and seafood. Let yourself be carried away by the soothing sea breeze, and the breathtaking views from its magnificent cliffs.

The next stop should be Fátima, one of the world's top pilgrimage destinations. The Shrine of Fatima is undoubtedly the most famous Marian shrine in the world dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. In the "holy city," we recommend a visit to the Chapel of Apparitions, where you can see the Crown of Our Lady of Fatima with one of the bullets that hit Pope John Paul II in the 1981 attack, and the Basilica of Fatima. Take the opportunity to learn the story of the Apparitions of the Virgin Mary of Fatima to the three shepherd children Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta in 1917. Don't miss the Santíssima Trindade Church, which is of a more modern construction.

In the Sanctuary of Fátima, don't miss the fragment of the Berlin Wall, donated by a Portuguese immigrant in Germany at the time of the wall's fall.

The ancient Portuguese capital is well preserved in time, conveying the medieval feeling everywhere. In fact, you will never be indifferent to Coimbra's traditional neighborhoods, famous for their narrow, sloping streets.

The tour starts in the old part of the city, full of history and with a rich heritage to explore. The historic center of Porto, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, allows you to appreciate its Roman and medieval architecture. Observe the imposing Porto Cathedral, one of the most enchanting buildings in the city, dating back to the 12th century!

We will continue our private tour towards São Bento Railway Station. This place is perhaps one of the biggest highlights of the tour - this train (train) station looks like a real tile museum! Its panels tell the history of Northern Portugal through stunning blue and white tiles. The main atrium is covered with more than twenty thousand azulejos!

Lunch will be in a traditional Porto restaurant.

Next, discover the city's main avenue, Avenida dos Aliados. Completely decorated with tall granite buildings, this imposing avenue offers a vast architectural complex with Art Nouveau and Art Deco facades. At the top is the Porto City Hall building.

Braga & Guimarães

Let's start our trip visiting Braga, also known as the "Portuguese Rome". Braga is a deeply religious city and this guided tour allows you to visit the Triangle of Faith: the Cathedral, the Sameiro Sanctuary and the Bom Jesus Sanctuary. Exciting, right?

The first stop, Braga Cathedral, also known as Braga Sé, is a Catholic church and one of the most important buildings in the city, considered the cradle of the city. An engaging monument that combines three completely different architectural styles: Romanesque, Manueline and Baroque. It is the oldest cathedral in Portugal - it was built several decades before the country was founded!

Find the Sanctuary of Sameiro, a Marian shrine, which attracts a large number of devotees and tourists. Built 570 meters above two valleys, this stunning monument allows for a prestigious view over the entire city.

Visit the majestic Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary. This pilgrimage site is one of the most impressive sacred hills in Europe, with a staircase of almost 600 hundred steps. It was used to be climbed by pilgrims on their knees to achieve purification of the spirit. Not only a religious monument, but also a truly romantic and relaxing place with stunning views of the city.

Now it's time for a break. Enjoy a tasty traditional lunch in the historic center of Braga.

After lunch, we will continue this private tour with a stop in Guimarães, the cradle of Portugal, and a World Heritage Site since 2001. Guimarães is related to the foundation of the national identity and the Portuguese language. This was the city where the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, was born.

We will go to the main attraction of the city, the Castle of Guimarães. Located on a hill, this imposing castle features medieval battlements, towers and splendid views. Discover the glorious bronze statue of D. Afonso Henriques.

Then we will continue past the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança and visit the Church of São Miguel.

Walk through the Martins Sarmento Square. To finish this short walking tour, discover Rua de Santa Maria, the City Hall, Praça de Santiago and the Church of Senhora da Oliveira.

Explore this World Heritage Site, a perfect example of a typical medieval city with a modern identity.

Day 9

Douro Valley

Although it is a region known mainly for its delicious wines, we cannot forget its unique gastronomy. Strong flavors and fresh ingredients are two visible characteristics. The traditional lunch will be at a typical restaurant in the region. Delight yourself with Portuguese gastronomy and enjoy!

After lunch, expect a one-hour scenic cruise down the Douro River in the village of Pinhão. This is the best way to end your day and we promise you enchanting moments! Observe the beautiful vineyards and the enchanted hills.

As you might expect, there is more to discover: another famous winery to visit. There, you will be invited to taste a wide variety of wines, surrounded by a truly welcoming environment: the vineyards of the Douro!

Day 10

Lamego & Tomar

Start the day with a walk through the vineyards of Quinta da Pacheca and a visit to the cellars to understand the differences between the production methods of this winery and those you learned about the day before.

You'll then set off towards Lamego, where you'll visit the famous Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, where one of the biggest pilgrimages in the country takes place. Later, you'll continue south.

When you arrive in Tomar, you'll take a panoramic tour of the city to get to know the city of the Knights Templar.

Day 11

Tomar to Lisbon

In the morning you will have the opportunity to visit the Convent of Christ, headquarters of the religious and military orders of the Temple and of Christ was classified as a World Heritage Site and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1983. Learn about the Templars, in 1099 Jerusalem is taken by the armies of the second Crusade to Palestine.

About twenty years later, nine knights from France and Burgundy form a brotherhood with the purpose of protecting the pilgrims on the dangerous roads between the port of Acre and Jerusalem. See the heritage left by these knights in Portugal and learn about their passage through Portugal on this tour.
