Did you know that the word Porto originated from the Latin designation Portus Cale?

It was this designation that gave its name to our country and the city Porto, whose name descends from the first part of the Latin name.

This beautiful city is characterized by its historical monuments, centuries-old bridges, parks and the famous Douro River.

Thanks to its incomparable beauty and its varied artistic, cultural and landscape offer, this city is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world.

During this tour you will visit some of the most prestigious places in the city such as São Bento Station and Porto Cathedral.

An interesting fact about São Bento Station is that before it was a station, it was a nunnery. In 1834, the extinction of all religious orders in the country was declared, which led to the end of several convents and monasteries. However, in some cases they would only be closed after the death of the last resident nun, which is what happened at this station. Legend has it that the locals believed there was a ghost linked to the last nun, who survived for 50 years, which led to stories of prayers and nocturnal murmurs in the building's corridors.

As for Porto Cathedral, this space is one of the city's best-known tourist attractions. It is characterised by its architectural authenticity, dating back to the Romanesque style (17th century).

Guided visit to Grahms Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia

The Grahms cellars located in Vila Nova de Gaia were founded in 1890.

Thanks to the maritime climate present in this region, this became the perfect place for the ageing of Port wine.

Although the ageing of Port wine takes place in the city of Gaia, its production takes place in the Douro. The grapes are obtained from four estates: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas.

On this visit, you will have the opportunity to learn about the bicentennial history of the Grahms company and enjoy a tasty Port Wine tasting.

The name Crasto derives from the Latin Castrum meaning "roman fort".

This vineyard is located in a privileged area in the Douro Demarcated Region. It is owned by the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette and has 135 hectares, of which 74 are occupied by vineyards.

Upon arrival at the farm, you will have a guided tour of the facilities, followed by a delicious harmonized lunch of traditional food.

Guided tour at Quinta da Roêda

Quinta da Roêda was acquired by the Croft company in 1889. This property became known early on as one of the best vineyards in the Douro region.

This space offers a pleasant and cozy atmosphere, ideal for tasting splendid wines.
